    Character Crisis

Just like what Dr A.R. Bernard said last night, we are not experiencing so much of a global economy crisis but rather a character crisis. The reason why we are in such a situation currently boils down to the character issues of individual. Greed is the root of all evil.

Dr Bernard taught us nothing new, but his message was so timely. Especially to all of us who inspires to be a good leader. A leader is a servant. That is the way to lead. Dr Bernard showed us a graph which is applicable to every organization and to every individual self.

    Accountability Matrix

    Right attitude but not achieving

    Right attitude and achieving

    Wrong attitude but achieving

    Wrong attitude and not achieving

Leaders are accountable for both results and behaviors. How do we accomplish the task? What type of attitude do we carry out the task? Leadership needs to identify which matrix their members fall under currently. On top of that, leadership is also moving members from one matrix to the other (progressive). There is a difference between compliance and commitment. Entering into a position is just complying and fulfilling the task. But the real deal is to be committed and fulfill the purpose. Commitment speaks of honor, passion and sacrifice.

Everyone is a leader. How does a leader keeps the fire burning? We got to understand that every relationship begins with a revelation. Revelation in turn brings inspiration. And in the inspiration, there is an expulsive power of a new affection being created. After that, its formalization stage, followed by institutionalization and finally crystallization.

    Eg: BGR
    Stage 1: Revelation
    - Boy meets girl, finds out that she is so attractive

    Stage 2: Inspiration
    - Boy wants to know her better

Stage 3: Expulsive power of a new affection
    - Boy wants to spend all the time with her, talk to her, stare at her

    Stage 4: Formalization
    - Boy asks her to be his girlfriend

    Stage 5: Institutionalization
    - Boy asks her for marriage

    Stage 6: Crystallization
    - Boy’s thrill in this relationship is gone, everything is like going through the motion
    - He has left the first love, not lost it
    - He needs to go back to the first works, that is building the relationship
    - The whole cycle starts again

    The lesson learnt here:
    - Always have a fresh revelation of the relationships we are in
    - Find ways to re-create the expulsive power of the affection
